About Us
Our History
Founded in 1955 by visionary leaders of the Diocese of Mysore, St. Antony’s began as a Tamil medium primary school (Grades 1–4) serving rural communities. Over the decades, it expanded to include Kannada medium, a high school (established in the 1990s), English medium from Kindergarten to Grade 10, and a Pre-University College (established in the 2000s). Today, it stands as a cornerstone of education in Chamarajanagar, reflecting a commitment to multilingual, progressive learning in a peaceful rural environment.
Our Spiritual Foundation – Diocese of Mysore
St. Antony’s is proudly part of the Diocese of Mysore, established on 16 March 1845 as the Apostolic Pro-Vicariate of Mysore-Bangalore under Pope Gregory XVI. It was promoted to Apostolic Vicariate in 1850 and elevated to a full Diocese in 1886 by Pope Leo XIII, with Msgr. Jean-Yves-Marie Coadou as its first Bishop. Originally under the Archdiocese of Goa, the Diocese has grown to promote ethical education, community service, and spiritual guidance across Karnataka, including rural areas like Cowdalli. This heritage integrates faith with learning at our institution, fostering values of compassion, discipline, and responsibility.
